Town’s run of defeats stretched to six games as the Blues were thumped 4-0 at Burnley. Sam Vokes opened the scoring from a header from a corner, then Chris McCann added the second just before the break. The Irishman added his second and the Clarets’ third, before Jay Rodriguez completed the scoring.

Town snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the closing moments for the second week running as Reading left Portman Road with a 3-2 win. Daryl Murphy opened the scoring 11 minutes after the break, Kaspars Gorkss equalised for the Royals before Josh Carson’s deflected shot put the Blues back in front. Town looked to have won it but Alex Pearce and Noel Hunt netted at the death to see the Blues to their third successive 3-2 defeat.

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that his decision to sign keeper Richard Wright for his third spell with the club was triggered by interest from Millwall and QPR. Wright, 34, joined the Blues on a contract until the end of the season on Thursday, having spent much of the last few months keeping fit with the squad at Playford Road.

Town fell to their second 3-2 defeat in two games as Nottingham Forest netted twice in the last six minutes to come from behind to deny the Blues their first win at the City Ground for 12 years.
